Dear Parents and Carers,
Following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II we have been adapting lessons so that pupils know about the changes that this news brings and can express their feelings in a safe and supportive environment. We have also been taking the time to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II and her reign, this has included reflecting upon last year’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations which pupils and staff enjoyed so much.
Over the weekend the Department for Education confirmed that date of the State Funeral, Monday September 19th, will be a bank holiday. As a result the school will be closed that day as a mark of respect.
If you would like to spend some time celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s life with your child we can recommend spending time together reading the book ‘Queen Elizabeth: A Platinum Jubilee Celebration’ which was given to every child last summer. It’s a wonderful book which really brings her achievements to life in a style children enjoy.
As a school our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family during this difficult time.
